You’ve survived the apocalypse!  Congratulations!  As your reward, here’s a fresh episode of Movies on Up for your listening pleasure.  No box office, news or trailers this week.  And just for fun, Ryan and Dave switch places.  Figuratively not literally or like a Freaky Friday scenario.

The boys kick off awards season with a pretty complex Golden Globes pick ’em contest.  Speaking of complex games, with the Golden Globe nominations announced-it’s time for a Fantasy Filmball update.  Dave will have you up to date on all 2012’s best unmade screenplays from this year’s blacklist.

Happy holidays.  Next week, it’s the 2012 year in review/2013 year in preview (?).  Send us some of your favorites from this past year and what you may be looking forward to next year.

This week, Ryan and Dave discuss things that don’t matter for the end is nigh.  The Hobbit’s disappointing haul at the box office, more great casting for Kermit an Co., the rise of the Zom-Com, Jackie Chan buddying his way into Expendables 3, this week in Tom Hardy and what’s new in superheroes.

To further the futility, trailers for movies that nobody will ever see (in some cases due to the impending apocalypse, in others because the movie looks horrible) include :

Pacific Rim, GI Joe Retaliation, Star Trek Into Darkness, Iron Man 3, Die Hard 5, Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia.

As a tribute to the coming end of this little rock we call Earth, Ryan gives his top 5 movies featuring the end-times, while Dave takes a more optimistic slant with his top 5 movies with a post-appocalyptic feel.  Whatever happens, prepare for the rapture with your favorite free movie podcast that can be found on this site!

This week, Ryan and Dave get to talk about a few of their favorite directors in the news, Kevin Smith and Nicholas Winding Refn. They also talk some news involving Johnny Depp, Will Ferrell, Dennis Haysbert, Ty Burrell, Fantastic Four, Oscar-baiting, Wonderland, new technology that directors love, and more!

They also pull motivation from Harry Knowles’ Butt Numb-A-Thon and fake schedule their first annual fake 24 hour film marathon by giving six films each that they feel are essential for marathon viewing.

Sci-fi dominates the trailers as the studs talk Oblivion, Star Trek Into Darkness, and After Earth, as well as Man Of Steel, The Lone Ranger, and Welcome To The Punch.

Ryan and Dave continue the trend of chasing off female listeners by going straight up geek right out of the shoot discussing the latest castings and rumors of Amazing Spider-Man 2, Guardians of the Galaxy and Days of Future Past.  We catch up with the latest projects from Seth MacFarlane and Guillermo del Toro as well as what the future may have in store for a great franchise from the past, The Terminator.

Dave yells at birds and tells you why the trailer for Dark Skies looks awful.  More favorable opinions are given for Jack the Giant Killer, I Give it a Year, Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III.  Bonus teasers for Pacific Rim and Rec 4.
