If you’re confused by the subject of our list this week, join the club.  In honor of something musical happening in cinema this week, (Dave conveniently “forgot” the reasoning for this list on this particular week was due to the One Direction flick hitting theaters) we here at Movies  on Up are listing our five favorite flicks about bands.  Ryan doesn’t follow the rules, Dave likes Marky Mark, and some real-live listener input!

Thanks to The Champions of All Time for the theme music-even if Dave has no idea it’s there.  It comes from the song “Home” off the CD/DVD Bridges Burned/Lessons Learned.

And a BIG thanks to Morgan Jim Cole for our fly, new logo.

Morgan, I still like our old fly logo.  One is silver, the other gold.

You may have already heard that Ben Affleck was cast as the newest Batman late last week.  What you haven’t heard is the official Movies on Up opinion of the casting.  A couple weeks back, Dave put up a blog post on possible shortlist Batmens and, spoiler alert, Affleck didn’t make the list.  How do we feel?  Are we just as pissed as the rest of the interwebs?  Come on in and find out.

Why spoil a good thing?  We keep the Affleck-mojo going by running down our top 5 movies starring the most Caped Crusader-to-be.  An entire episode devoted to the life and times of Ben Affleck.  You’re welcome, world.

This week, Movies on Up gives you tips on which animals you may not want to choose as pets in the form of our favorite movies featuring killer animals.  I’m not certain any of you would choose any of these animals as pets anyway, but I challenge someone to try to buy a tingler from a pet store.  Oh, spoiler alert-Jaws isn’t on the list.  Deal with it.

Yep, we’ve caved to the overwhelming internet demand for a Movies on Up episode dedicated to the modern cinema classic that is Sharknado.  It’s really more accurate to say that I forced Dave to watch it, and boy was he enthused.  By my count, he still owes me one.  Who’s idea do you think the GI Joe and Percy Jackson episodes were?  It’s Dave’s greatest foe, foe, foe-the devastating Sharknado!

Howdy, pod-ners!  This week, Ryan and Dave are fixin’ to list their 5 favorite westerns.  The problem being, neither of these tumbleweeds seem to know what a western is.  Feel free to holler with your most rootin-tootin-ie westernish flicks.  Or just let us know what a western in.  They’ve got some horses and guns, right?!

If you’re new to Movies on Up, you may not realize that Ryan and Dave get checks from Matthew Vaughn on a monthly basis to sing the directors praises.  The cash registers are ringing in this discussion of Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s graphic novel, Kick Ass starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicolas Cage, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Mark Strong.
Plenty of blood and a bit of language, and that’s just in the podcast!
