News Reborn: Episode 1

SuicideSquad_Harley_Katana_3News Reborn: Episode 1

Did you hear the news? News episodes are back! In the first episode of the new reborn news episodes, Dave and Mike Mann talk about the Miller/Lord Han Solo movie and give some ideas who they’d like to see play young Solo, discuss the little news that came out of Comic Con and wonder if the days of Comic Con as big news breeding ground are over, and also take a look at the trailers for Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman, Sisters, and more! They also wrap up last week’s box office and make their predictions for how well Trainwreck and Ant-Man will do. News is back!

Please don’t mind the audio issues. We’ll get them improved for future episodes.

Ryan and Dave hitch the Movies on Up wagon to the news and trailers trailer for one final ride.  They boys focus on the big news made by DC and Marvel at Comic Con this past weekend.  Batman in Superman with the Flash, oh my!  Alternate Ultron origins and Wolverine heading Jack to the future.

The final line up of trailers features Hunger Games, Veronica Mars, Metallica, Grabbers, Insidious 2, The Fifth Estate and appropriately, 12 Years a Slave.

Later on this week, Movies on Up gets even sexier with our favorite sex comedies.

Ep62: Pacific Rim Jobbed?

Movies On UP! – Ep62: Pacific Rim Jobbed

Movies On UP! is also now on Stitcher!

Guillermo Del Toro’s latest effort robbed of it’s rightful place atop the heap.  What else did you think I was referring to with the title?  This weekend at the box office, giant robots ko’d by Sandler and friends.  It took a while to sink in but Ryan and Dave try to come to grips with Grown Ups 2 besting Pacific Rim at the box office.  Dave takes out his frustrations on Wolverine and Spider-Man putting  his kibosh on any team ups between Canada’s finest, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and the Avengers.  Not willing to stop there, Dave also boots Wolverine from the just announced X-Force project.  Sam Mendes is back for Bond 24, and possibly 25?

Quite a varied roster of trailers featuring Frankenstein’s Army, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Out of the Furnace, Saving Mr. Banks, Oldboy, Seventh Son, Lovlace, The Curse of Chucky, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Sharknado!

Ryan and Dave conjure up a discussion on James Wan’s Insidious later on this week.  Check back next week for Movies on Up’s final news and trailers episode featuring Comic Con 2013.  From here on out, it’s all movies all the time.  We’ll keep two episodes per week, one movie discussion/review and one topical list.

Ep61: A Monster Week with Movies on Up!

Movies On UP! – Ep61: Number 61 the Hard Way

Movies On UP! is also now on Stitcher!

With Comic-Con looming in San Diego, Ryan and Dave run down the weekend’s festivities as it relates to film.  They not so secretly reveal inner desires for trailers to premiere for RoboCop and Godzilla.  Maybe some Ant Man for good measure as well.

A healthy dose of trailers spanning Asian meth slingers in Drug War, Vince Vaughn slinging his seed in Delivery Man, same sex parenting with The Boxtrolls, mishandling a terrible premise with Baggage Claim, spending an Afternoon Delight with Juno Temple, and trailers from Pod-faves Kevin Hart and Kristen Bell.

Later on this week, check back for a monstrous list of our favorite monster movies.

Ryan and Dave bit a Movies on Up farewell to kung fu (and afro) icon, Jim Kelly while bemoaning the rash of franchise movies we are and will be inundated with in the future.  Pixar tries to help out by promising no more sequels, but stupid Terminator, Independence Day and Taken ruin the mood.  Speaking of mood, Ryan learns a new, and perhaps sexy tidbit about 50 Shades of Grey, which now has a release date.

Big time fun with trailers/teasers from Nymphomaniac, Passion, The Time Being, Prisoners, Blood, Escape Plan, Jug Face, Hell Baby, Thanks for Sharing, Dealin’ With Idiots, The Counselor, Willow Creek and One Direction: This is US.  Seriously, we talk about the One Direction movie.

Later this week, check back for the 2013 Movies on Up Halftime Report.  We’ll give you our five favorites from the first half of the year and look ahead to five that we are “interested” in over the rest of 2013.

Ep59: The Voice Of An Anna

Movies On UP! – Ep59: The Voice Of An Anna

Movies On UP! is also now on Stitcher!

This week, the guys enroll in Box Office University as they talk about the performances of Monsters U and World War Z and The Man Of Steel. Then they dig head first into plenty of news, including stories on Shailene Woodley, Tony Stark, 50 Shades Of Grey, Highlander, Anna Kendrick, Christopher, Nolan, Terminator 5, and lots more!

They also pay a loving Movies On UP! tribute to James Gandolfini.

In this week’s trailers, Ryan and Dave take a second look at Prince Avalanche, and a first look at The Smurfs 2, The Spectacular Now, Anchorman 2, Free Birds, Frozen, Jobs, Crystal Fairy, Drinking Buddies, and The LEGO Movie.

Check back later this week for a discussion episode that is out of this world: our favorite female buddy movies!!
